Change We Can Believe In
After the recent election, I am considering a run for the White House. That’s right, I am pondering the idea that I will run for President of the United States of America in 2012. President Obama ran a campaign based on “Change We Can Believe In.” Obviously his campaign of “change” resonated throughout this country. I will base my campaign using the same theme of “change.” However, my changes will be completely different from President Obama’s. Changes in our healthcare system, the economy, immigration, taxes, and energy will not be at the top of my “change list.”
I have more important changes in store for the American people. If I decide to run, here are my top changes I will strive to make:
-
Change the way the country views sin
Our country has the idea that “if it feels good do it.” If it feels good to divorce your spouse because you found someone else, do it. If it feels good to kill your unborn child because you are not ready to be a parent or made a mistake, do it. If it feels good to sleep around with different partners every night, do it. If it feels good to go against the natural desire of the opposite sex and start living an “alternative” lifestyle, do it.
This is not an exhaustive list but I will propose to change the way this country views these sins and others. The question has been asked before, whatever happened to sin? I will ask that question on the campaign trail throughout this country. Whatever happened to calling sin, sin? When did committing adultery become finding someone more compatible? When did murdering an unborn child become a woman’s right? When did fornication become “sleeping around and having fun?” When did homosexuality become “gay and lesbian” and labeled as an “alternative lifestyle?” I am beginning to think that the alternative lifestyle in this country is marrying someone of the opposite sex and staying married all your life!
We need to change the way we view sin. Let’s start calling it what it is. Sin! Instead of viewing sin as something that makes us feel good, this country needs to realize that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Paul writes, “but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also to the Greek”(Romans 2: 8,9). I hope you see why this change is at the top of my list.

Change the way the country views Jesus Christ
Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Many Americans do not believe that statement. Does that make it any less true? No! Many in this country have the idea that you can have a relationship with God apart from Jesus Christ. No one can come to God except through Christ. Some will admit that He was a good man. Some will even admit that He was a great teacher. But will they admit that He is the way, the truth, and the life?
This country needs to view Jesus Christ as the very center and core of our lives. Only through His blood can we have forgiveness of our sins. God desires all men to be saved. The only way to be saved is to come through Jesus Christ.

Change the way the country views God
From the Declaration of Independence to our national currency, this country has always acknowledged God exists. However, it now seems as though America has forgotten about God. Atheists are fighting to have “God Bless America” removed from government buildings and our currency. If you mention that you believe God created the universe you will be labeled as “religious fanatic” and anti-science.”
“The fool has says in his heart, ‘There is no God’” (Psalm 53:1). It is foolish to believe that we came from monkeys. It is foolish to believe that this world and all that is in it just happened to appear out of thin air. I believe, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).
We need to change the way this country views God. Every American needs to understand that, “in Him we live and move and have our very being”(Acts 17:28).
Those are just a few of the changes that I believe are needed and I will propose if I decide to run for President in 2012. Do you think I can win?
